Även om det ovanstående (obegripliga) fotot är taget från årets Australiensiska mästerskap, tror jag att större delen av internet minns henne redan från första guldmedaljen, 2006.
Körer av förvirrade och förmodligen oinsatta nyblivna fans skrek plötsligt något naiva saker som: "Det här hör hemma i Cirque du Soleil!" och "Varför är detta inte en OS-gren?!"
Som bekant ska man aldrig säga aldrig, för nu har Felix blivit headhuntad av inga mindre än Cirque du Soleil, skrivit på ett 2-årigt akrobatkontrakt och flyttar från Australien - till Las Vegas. Just för att uppträda i deras spektakulära, permanenta show Zumanity.
Med det vill jag ha fram: vem hänger med på en studieresa till Nevada med PoleDance.se under 2009?! ;)
Dock är det ännu oklart om en helt ny akt och karraktär kommer att skrivas speciellt för Felix eller om hon ska komma in i en oförändrad show.
Intressant är dock att notera att pole-akrobater inom cirkus, traditionellt sett, (utan överdrift) till 99% är män!
Varför? Ingen aning, men en kvalificerad gissning är att kvinnor kanske inte anses starka nog?
I guess we'll just see about that :P
Så! Slå ett slag för utveckling: våga du som tjej att ta i med hårdhanskarna i den annars så mansdominerade träningslokalen. Och våga du som kille doppa tårna i den annars hyfsat kvinnodominerade poledance-genren.
